Cape parrots are the only parrot species entirely endemic to South Africa, found in the Afro-montane forests of the country. They are known for their vibrant green plumage, golden-brown head, and striking orange patches on their shoulders. Cape parrots have a unique ability to crack open the hard shells of yellowwood tree seeds, a primary food source in their diet.
